The diamond mounted points are used for carving, drilling, grinding of non-ferrous hard materials, such as ceramic, glass, FRP, jade, marble, wood, plastic and metal. Common shanks are 2.34mm, 3mm and 6mm.

Diamond internal points are used for a jig, internal grinding, and precision grinding of small holes in carbide, ceramics, sapphire, glass, etc.

CBN internal points are used similarly on tough, high carbon, high chrome hardens steels.
